Downtime Taking Longer Than Expected

27 03 2007

Well the talked about Xbox Live downtime on March 27th 2007 is here and….is taking longer than expected. The servers were supposed to be back up about two hours ago. Major Nelson has posted that the service is not up and he does not know what time the service will be back up, but it shouldn’t be much longer. I know this will cause another blow up on majornelson.com, so hopefully the service will be back up soon.

Microsoft Speaks About Stolen Live Accounts

22 03 2007

Most people have been lucky enough not to have this problem, but some people’s Xbox Live Accounts have been stolen. The people this happened to, believed that their account was hacked, well Microsoft says this is not the case. They say Xbox Live Accounts have not been hacked, that it was because of a “phishing” problem. So whatever you do, do not give out your Live ID and Password to anyone that asks for it. This has me thinking a little though. I don’t think that many people would actually give out their password for their account. I’m not saying that I think the service was hacked or anything just that I don’t think people would do that if they valued their account. Check out what Larry Hryb aka Major Nelson and Aaron Greenberg aka BIGVIP had to say about the issue: http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/03/21/xbox-live-security-3-21.aspx

Live for Windows Coming Soon!

14 03 2007

The project that we all know as Live anywhere will be coming sooner than you may have thought. Live anywhere is going to let you log in with your Xbox Live Gamertag on your Windows Vista PC. If you have a Silver account you can earn achievements in single player modes, send text and voice messages, play your friends and others on PC games. If you are an Xbox Live Gold Member you will get more features such as multiplayer achievements and trueskill matchmaking. You do now have to pay extra for the service. Alls you have to do is have a gamertag and you are good to go. Live for Windows will be debuting with the release of Halo 2 for Windows Vista on May 8th 2007, not that far away. Sounds like a pretty good deal for all you Vista owners, this just makes me want to buy a new PC for Vista right now. Read the official Gamerscore Blog post on the service here.
